Jet Lag Jog, December 2, 2012

The bogs and marshes of the Southern Pentland Hills are, at last, frozen. The skies clear blue, the beautiful sunshine, despite jet lag due to return from Pune, India yesterday, conditions were irresistible. I had been looking forward to this run for weeks, and this looked like the perfect day :-)

The Thief's Road up to the Cauldstane Slap. The path was a sheet of ice, most of the time I had to run to he side of the path, and there were diversions in both directions to avoid the bull among the shaggy and horned Highland Cattle. West Cairn Hill to the left, East Cairn Hill to the right, I'm heading here.

The ascent of West Cairn Hill from Cauldstane Slap. The last time up here I was calf deep in bog. Today the ground was rock hard.

The summit of West Cairn Hill, wall, fence, cairn and trig.

East Cairn Hill viewed from West Cairn Hill.

The flat top of East Cairn Hill....

What a wonderful day of sun overhead, snow underfoot, almost zero wind, and peace, and happiness :)
